Hello Dr. Rynne, I Am A Very Active 58 Y.o.

Hello Dr. Rynne,
I am a very active 58 y.o. woman, who noticed some pain after lifting weights and exercising in my R)groin. On palpation, I discovered a small lump. As per my GYN - small hernia and no need for a surgery. I went to a surgeon to confirm it an he said it is a femoral hernia, rare, mostly in slim women and elective surgery is preferred. He suggested laparoscopic one with a big piece of nylon mash and 1 - 1 & 1/2 hr general anesthesia. Besides being for a long time under a general anasthesia, I also read on-line about complications and got scared. Any advice?? Thank you very much!
