Hello, Ever Since My Early Age (10-11 Years Old) I

Hello,

Ever since my early age (10-11 years old) I have had a problem with my ear. Basically, every time I breathe in, my right ear sucks in and blocks. The harder I inhale, the stronger it blocks. I then have to "pop" either my opening my mouth or doing a slight valsalva maneuver. I am 20 now so this has been going on for almost 10 years.

I have also always been prone to right ear infections, and have had one as early as 3 months of age. While I can somewhat avoid the problem by it keeping my head straight and breathing slowly, turning my head to either side and inhaling will always cause a block.

Recently, I have been diagnosed with a deviated septum (my right nose canal is significantly thinner) and a nose polyp in the back of my right nose canal. I am scheduled for surgery in December.

According to the report, the X-ray has shown my 3 ear bones being inflated and one being slightly out of place, but a month later the MRI scan showed them being correct and only pointed to my deviated septum and polyp.

However, while I have read (and been told by my doctor) that deviated septums and polyps can cause eustachian tube impairments, I have also read that nose surgeries can make it worse, and even cause ET problems in people who haven't had it before.

What are your thoughts on my condition? Do you think it's caused by the bad septum and polyp? I am honestly scared that this surgery will only make a very bad condition even worse.
