Hello,
For the past 2 months, I have had intermittant (esp during high stress situations), excruciating pain (on scale of 1-10, up to 8) completely around my torso at the lumbar area. The pain is internal, feels superficial as though just inside my skin. Pain characterized by intense sore, burning sensation not affected by postion, application of heat/ice. Pressure senstive. There are no external visible changes (temp, redness).
Is it possible that I have internal shingles? I had chicken pox as a youngster and my paternal grandmother suffered with more traditional, external shingles around her thoracic torso. Her onset was not until her mid-sixties.
Past Medical Hx: I am a 58 yo, relatively healthy (~40 lbs overweight) white woman who had L4-5 laminectomy secondary to herniated discs (1994), R-knee, medial meniscus tear repair (2005), partial historectomy (2009), R-knee replacement May, 2014.
Recent stressors: I am politically active, so time leading up to election was stressful. My chidrens' father was found dead on election day and aside from surreal bouts of grief, we were/are travelling extensively to settle his affairs. My daughter's compromised immune system netted her positive for mono, an exceptionally bad bacterial infection of throat and esophagus and we battled extremely high fever. This was over a course of 10 days.
.
Ideas? Thank you, Deb
