Hello,
I am 26 F and I have a lower back pain and the area is swollen, my left leg hurts sometimes but there is no tingling sensation, my doctor ordered a Lumbar Spine MRI and the results are below. What exactly should I do?
Lumbar spine MRI:
*********************
Technique:Sagittal T1,T2,T2FS.Axial T1,T2.Coronal and sagittal MR myelogram.
Findings:
Disc degenerative disease at L5-S1 level with bone marrow edema at the
endplates indicating type I Modic endplate changes.
No vertebral collapse or suspicious bony focal lesion.
The conus medullaris ends at the level of T12-L1 and appears of normal signal
intensity.
L2-L3: Minor diffuse disc bulge. No nerve root compression. The central canal and
neural foramina are satisfactory.
L3-L4: Minor diffuse disc bulge. No nerve root compression. The central canal and
neural foramina are satisfactory.
L4-L5: Minor diffuse disc bulge. No nerve root compression. The central canal and
neural foramina are satisfactory.
L5-S1: Diffuse disc bulge with left paracentral disc extrusion migrating slightly
upward abutting the left descending S1 nerve root without nerve root
compression. Mild narrowing of both neural foramina more on the right. The central
canal is satisfactory.
Impression:
-Disc degenerative disease at L5-S1 level with bone marrow edema at the
opposing endplates indicating Modic type I endplate changes that are usually
seen in symptomatic patients.
-Left paracentral disc extrusion at L5-S1 level abutting the left descending S1
nerve root without nerve root compression.
