Hello, I am 54 and have multiple pain issue that have been going on for more than 25 years. I have had correction surgery for Chiari Malformation (2000) they shaved off C1 & C2. I've had 2 surgeries on my L4S5 area with 6 pins & 2 rods and surgery on my C3-C6 with 6 pins & 2Rods. I've also been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia more than 25 years ago. To,say my pain is chronic is an understatement. I am seeing a pain management Dr for many years (I've gone through with a lot of steroid injections to my spine, I've even tried the procedure where they burn the nerves in the painful areas and slim to none relief. Oh also I have Hypothroidism. I've taking many different pain medications over the years with minimal relief. I've read about a medication for Hypothroidism called Naltrexone. I mentioned it to my personal Dr who knew nothing about it and didn't feel comfortable prescribing it to me, so I talked to my pai management Dr who knew of this medicine and prescribed Embda for me (of course taking me off the pain medicine I was currently on). It has been an absolute game changer for me! I used to only be able to sleep 2-3 hrs max at a time, now I sleep up to 7 hours a night. I started Embeda in November of last year and my insurance (Humana) had no problem letting me have it. Then in mid January when I filled my prescription my new insurance (GlobalHealth) let me have it, but sent me a letter saying they would no longer pay for me to get tired! Is there another medication out there that has a pain medication with Naltrexone included similar to Embeda that my insurance might cover? I've been on Medicare Disability since 2009. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as my Embeda will run out 2/13/18!!
Thank you
