Hello. I am a 57 year old female, and after several months of severe heartburn I had an upper G.I. I was diagnosed with level three esophageal damage. I understand that level 4 is cancer. In the past two weeks I have been having severe problems (pain) swallowing, particularly anything cold, carbonated, caffienated, crunchy, alcoholic or sweet. The pain radiates into my ribs, breasts, upper back between the scapula and i sometimes go into coughing fits. I am very afraid this may have turned cancerous or that I have multiple problems. I take 40 mg of omeprazole daily, and eat chalk antacids like candy. Have tried baking soda and water, and athsma inhalers with minimal relief.
