Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am a 70 year old female who has been having heart palpitations with several episodes of racing heart beat. I wore a Holter monitor for 24 hours and the doctor told me that it showed some benign PVCs and a few PACs. I saw a cardiologist last week and he told me to wear a 30 day event monitor. I am also taking Metoprolol ER Succinate 25mg once a day for the racing heart. I do not have high look pressure and EKGs are normal. I am scheduled for an Echocardiogram next week. My concern is that the palpitations are occurring more frequently and that it will lead to a heart attack or worse. Sometimes I get a bit lightheaded. Overall, the cardiologist did not seem too concerned. My cholesterol is good, and the Echo and Stress tests that I had back in 2009 were normal. (Problem was acid reflux, not heart). I have to wear this event monitor for three more weeks. Should I be worried?
