Hello. I Am An RN. My Father-in-law Is In His

Hello. I am an RN. My father-in-law is in his late 70s and has been suffering from severe hives recently and has been to the ER twice. The first time they gave him epi and prednisone. The second time they changed his prednisone to a longer step down. They cannot figure out what is causing him to have these breakouts. He recently had knee surgery and I thought it may have been the implant they used, but he said he had his first outbreak prior to the surgery. He is also having trouble keeping up his weight. He is complaining of extreme exhaustion and fatigue, but he can't sleep. He was NOT on pain meds prior to the surgery. His doctor has stopped all meds except his prilosec and the prednisone. He's miserable because his knee hurts and he can't take his pain meds.
