Hello, I Am An Woman In My Upper 50's, About

Hello,
I am an woman in my upper 50's, about 5'3", am small framed and have always weighed under 100 lbs except when I was pregnant. I don't drink or smoke and have always been pretty healthy. However, now I have had infection on my right forefinger at the base of the fingernail since Christmas. I have treated it with periods of warm water soakings and neosporin (sp?), but the infection still remains just not as severe. I am also losing part of my nail from the point of the original infection. The rest of the nail is starting to turn white and looks like another nail is underneath.
This is the same finger that I burned lighting a candle at Christmas a year ago, but did not cause a blister on the other side, just swelling and numbness. I treated it then, but it still remains tender to the touch. Could this be related? I have never had anything like this before.
