Hello, I Am Planning On Marrying My Second Cousin Once

Hello, I am planning on marrying my second cousin once removed. My only concern is that due to our relation our children may be born with defects. Is that a valid cause for concern? Also, does it make a difference in the children if me and my spouse have the same blood type?
