Hello, I Been Having Type 1 Diabetes For 19 Years,

Hello, I been having type 1 diabetes for 19 years, but my question is I been on Lisinopril for three years. Also believe I been leaking protein and other stuff in my urine and I also been having high blood pressure they double up on my doses but seems they are not working.
I been ready online and it says don't take this medication if you have Kidney diseases or diabetics, so I don't understand why my Dr recommended this for me.
