Hello, I Had An Insect Die In My Ear Canal.

Hello, I had an insect die in my ear canal. I've slowly been getting all the pieces out, but it feels like part of it is very close to or directly on top of my eardrum. I had someone look as far down as they could with a light and they said they saw what appeared to be a gooey black mass on the center of my eardrum. What is this, and what should I do about it? My hearing has largely returned since removing the larger parts of the shell, but it still hasn't fully come back and my ear still feels stuffed up.
