Hello I Had Blood Tests Recently And Kidney One Came

Hello I had blood tests recently and kidney one came back borderline, the doctor suggested I have another blood test in January because maybe I hadn't drank enough fluids, I am now drinking between 1 & 3 litres of water a day, will this help or could it be something more serious?
