Hello,
I had my lower thumb joint fused with a pin 8 weeks ago. The original issue was my CMC near wrist. That was removed, due to arthritis. The first surgeon used a tightrope (at that point my lower thumb joint was fine)...but the tightrope was used after the trapezium bone came out. Instead of harvesting a tendon. The rope was way too tight, had to be removed, we then saw an inversion of my metacarpal and the lower joint. The second surgeon, who removed the rope, felt the need to fuse that lower thumb joint and add a pin. Im sorry I ever did this, as now I can bend my upper thumb joint...even with extensive therapy. It feels like my tendon is stuck? Is it possible to undue a joint fusion of the thumb...they did remove cartilage, but I didn't know how this could effect my tendon running up thumb, to get so stuck. Is there anyway to undue this fusion, so I have more movement?
