Hello, I Have A Cavity In One Of My Tooth

Hello, I have a cavity in one of my tooth and I was told that i need a root canal. i am 19 weeks pregnant and scared to expose my baby to xrays and also worried about possible need to take antibiotics. I am, however, getting more pain at the site. Can i just opt for a temporary filling till the baby is born, or is it safe to get the root canal done now?
