Hello, I Have A Painful And Swollen Area In Bottom

Hello, I have a painful and swollen area in bottom crack. I have previously had this which became unbearable to even sit, but the swollen area eventually burst which produced pus. I applied germolene and it went. It has returned now, could it be ingrown hairs causing this?
