Hello, I Have A Tonsil That Has Been Swollen For

Hello, I have a tonsil that has been swollen for 9 months. White patches have slowly been spreading on back of the throat over the last 9 months as well. a week ago a red swollen lump occurred filling in a crypt. When prodding the red lump it is moveable and attached to the top edge of the tonsil crypt. My doctor looked at my throat before the red lump and thought it was normal and didn't mind one swollen tonsil. I am starting to worry. Any insight you can give would be appreciated.
