Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have an atypical mole on my back (it is brown, circular, about 5/6mm wide, and has a clear centre). It appeared about two years ago (I'm 27). I have already had it looked at by a GP about a month ago who said it was not a cause for concern.
However, in the last few days I have noticed the mole has become slightly raised. The change is very fractional: you could hardly tell it has raised by looking at it. But when I used to run a finger over it it was completely flat and I couldn't feel it at all - now I can feel it. I'm very worried - is it common for moles to become slightly raised?
The mole has not changed in any other way - it has not grown bigger or darker since I spotted it two years ago. There's no family history of melanoma.
