I have been battling a gastrointestinal bug for about 110 hours now. Symptoms seem to be an exact match to norovirus, except I have not had vomiting (I tend to have a cast iron stomach) and the length of time seems to be longer.
I'm sure I caught it from my wife who had the same bug starting 4 days before my first symptoms. Her symptoms were almost the same as mine but included vomiting. She was able to return to normal activities in about 72 hours.
For myself, after having severe diarrhea for days, it finally stopped about 12 hours ago. I have been re-hydrating as much as possible through the entire period.
Most of my symptoms have subsided except I am still very fatigued and I have major lower back pain on both sides.
I am concerned about the back pain and am wondering if it is located in my kidneys and if they may be at risk.
Is lower back pain normal in the later stages of norovirus or other gastrointestinal infection?
