Hello, I Have Had 4 Attacks With Diverticulitis In 24

Hello,

I have had 4 attacks with diverticulitis in 24 years. About two years ago my primary physician gave me a prescription to have on hand in case I have another attack. Yesterday I had a small flare up while working in the south Georgia heat. Not as severe as the the others episodes. I have Cipro and Flagyl, 500m each. The episode occurred over a three hour period, but only very short sharp pains totaling about 8 "lightening bolts of pain" with 20 or 30 minutes between each strike. Then it went away? I was on a short overnight trip to see relatives and out to dinner when it happened in Savannah GA. When I returned to my luggage I started the Cipro last night about 7:00. I took the second round at about 8:00 this morning. There has been little pain or discomfort, but I can tell the medication is working my bowel and abdomen over. However, I know Flagyl will increase the discomfort.

Should I also begin the Flagyl also?
