Hello, I Have Had Abnormal Pap Smears Every 6 Months

Hello,
I have had abnormal pap smears every 6 months since 2009. In 2012, the Cin1 mild dysplasia down graded to ascus (not sure what that means but my doc said that). Then 6 months later, it returned to Cin1 mild dysplasia and has stayed that way every 6 months. Last week, I had a pap. I had inserted my finger into my vagina and felt a bump on my cervix so I called to schedule my 6 month pap a little early (5 months since last). Doc mentioned I had cervical ectropion and I had never been informed of that previously. Today the nurse called and said my pap came back normal!! I'd like to believe it but I'm skeptical since its been abnormal for 5 years. Can the ectropion cells that have come from inside the cervix cover up the dysplasia cells making the result of a normal pap incorrect? Also they did an ultrasound to check on my pedunculated fibroid that sits on the top of my uterus. Tech said everything looks normal. I asked if she saw the fibroid and she said no. Can it just disappear?
Thank you for your help!
