Hello I Have Had Bright Red Spots In Stool That

Hello I have had bright red spots in stool that were in a mucus like coating. I am 18 years old and this is the first sign of this substance appearing. Mt diet over a 24 hour period has consisted of tomatoes and bright red candies could this be the cause for the spots?
