Hello, I Just Had Copper Iud Removed About 2 Months

I just had copper iud removed about 2 months ago after having it for a year. This is the first time I've had my period since removing it other than light spotting. My period is beyond heavy having to change my tampon every hour and passing large blood clots and i have sever cramping. Is this normal? Before I had the iud my periods were light lasting 3-4 days and never had cramps. After getting my iud my period flow was really heavy aND sever cramps started.
