Hello I recent ly was scheduled for arthroscopy surgery on my left knee. The week before it swelled which isn't abnormal and they drained it. The next day it was huge again. Wednesday was when they drained it and Friday I was back in the office for another draining but this time the dr hardly got any fluid. After that the swelling affected the rest of my knee. I could barely walk it was so painful. I had my surgery the following Wednesday and they kept me over night because they were concerned with all the swelling there might be an infection. My cultures came back normal except 2 were really elevated meaning inflamation. My surgery knee feels great, but I have been exhausted since the surgery and now my right knee is very swollen and can barely walk on it. I have been having low grade fevers the last few nights but tonight it got to 103.5. I got it down by my pain meds which have acetimetphine in them, cool clothes and plenty of fluids to 101.7 now. My ortho Dr wanted me to see an infectious disease doctor, but they said there is no need because my WBC is normal, so they have fowarded me to a rheumatologist who can't see me until the 17th. My family dr contacted the rheumatologist and they have ordered blood work which I had done Thursday evening and Monday I will have my knee drained for testing. I am unsure what bloodwork was done but I do know the infectious disease dr thought it was gouty arthtitis. I am a 40 year old women who is on depakote, and synthroid. What are your thoughts. Thank you, Jen
