Hello, I Was Just Wondering If It Was Safe To

Hello, I was just wondering if it was safe to start taking the contraceptive pill mid cycle. I have an event coming up at the end of the month, which is when I am due my period, and I don't want to be bleeding for it. I would still use other methods of contraception for the first few weeks, I just need to know if it was safe to do so.
