I'm 47, female. I had a flu virus 3 weeks ago and still have an annoying and sometimes painful cough.
I only cough up a small amount of phlegm/petit pois size lump, disproportionate in size to the amount of coughing needed to bring it up. A Dr checked my chest at the end of the first week of the flu and said it was clear. I have also been bringing small amounts of phlegm from the back of my nose but not had the typical pain I have when I have a sinus infection. Occasionally the phlegm has a tiny amount of blood in it. should I go back to the Dr for anitibiotics ( I am not totally back to normal energy levels yet but well on the way)
I also take venlafaxine for depression which dries out my membranes.
