Hello, In Less Than 20 Hours A Small Red Spot

In less than 20 hours a small red spot appeared and grew to the size of half a nickel directly under one eye, touching my tearduct area. It now looks like a dark purple birthmark. No history of anything similar. That eye had been twitchy on and off for a week or so. This does not itch or hurt and it doesn't seem to be swollen, but people certainly notice and ask me if someone hit me. I have been online and haven't seen anything that looks like this. I am 55 and have normal skin; it is usually free of blemishes. Thank you for any insight you may have.
