Hello I've Been Having A Pain In The Left Area

Hello I've been having a pain in the left area between the waist and bottom of the breast area all day and it hurts to stand or sit down and especially when I cough I have to hold in my side . Could it be a strain ? I don't remember doing anything to cause a strain.
