Hello, I've Never Had This Problem Until Recently. A Week

Hello, I've never had this problem until recently. A week or so ago I went to use the bathroom after a long time and a lot of straining. Today, felt the urge to go to the bathroom. Sat on the toilet and couldn't go, just can't seem to push it out no matter how hard I try. I took 2 Stool Softners and drank a glass of water with laxative in it. My question will these effect to fecal matter that is stuck? If not what should I do?
