Hello, I've previously started staying at my grandmothers and have been sleeping in her spare bedroom, I awoke last week to a small bite on my hand which made me panic (as I've had scabies before) I just watched it to make sure it wasn't getting bigger etc and it finally started to heal. A few days later I noticed bites on both of my arms particularly the bend of my elbows I noticed very itchy, tender, small bites on my right calve and went to the hospital. They pretty much diagnosed me with festered hairs. So they sent me on my way and thankfully gave me permethrin 5% cream just in case I had scabies again. I treated myself that night and the next morning I had a crazy itch randomly everywhere and a few new bumps formed. I thought it was maybe the side effects of the medication and that it'd get better but a week later the itching still continued and was literally everywhere so I reapplied the second dose of permethrin 5% cream. I washed all linens and clothes and basically slept that night in bed with nothing on. The next morning roughly 13 hrs after using the cream I took a hot shower and noticed even more bites on my knee caps. I honestly have no idea why the medication is not working as before when I first got scabies 1 dose was definitely enough to kill the mites. I went to the ER and they told me it could just be the sidw effects of the cream. I was then perscribed another dose of Permethrin and told to contacr my physician if it had'nt subsided by thursday. Now I'm wide awake the night after the second treatment and itching like crazy on my back and my buttocks and would really love this to go away. Please help me. I don't feel the cream is working.
