Hello, My Husband Has Been Having Chronic Toe Pain. It

Hello, My husband has been having chronic toe pain. It hurt mostly when he goes to bed at night. He goes to the VA but all they do is give him pain pills and say he some kind of circulation problem. This toe problem came about a month or two ago, after they gave him special shoes to correct his stance. He has 1 1/2 inches of the leg that has the toe problem. He had been living fine without the shoes for over 30 years. We think this may have something to do with his toe problem. What can you suggest and what type of doctor should he seak out? I have not found a podiatrist that specializes in toes. Thank yo uin advance
