Hello A Friend Of Mine Was Recently Bitten By A

Hello a friend of mine was recently bitten by a black widow on his right hand. He is now suffering from sever leg pain in his right leg. He has no prior injuries to that leg, and was fine up until he was bitten. What should he do is this a common side effect?
