Hello, Had Infection In Sinus But Before Got To Doctor

Hello, had infection in sinus but before got to doctor apt, I would stand in hot shower to try and get moisture and blew nose to clean out flem. Seen doctor and he said good but went to another apt and was told sinus infected. Is it possible I blew my nose so hard it tore some thing as I can move air by closing my mouth and building up a lil pressure then comes out nostrils , Thx Jim
