Hello, My 12 Year Old Grandson Has Been Sucking On

Hello, my 12 year old grandson has been sucking on coins and keys. He says they taste good and will not stop. His diet is not good as there are few things he will eat. I am concerned that he has something lacking in his diet causing him to do this. Any information you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thank you
