Hello, My Doctor Prescribed Metronidazole 500mg For Me 3 Days

Hello, my doctor prescribed metronidazole 500mg for me 3 days ago based solely on symptoms I described to her. She did not administer any test. I later researched that the symptoms (discharge with a foul odor) I described to her were related to either trichomonas or bacterial vaginosis. She seemed to think it was bacterial vaginosis ( I can't tell you why) but now I am so curious if my ex gave me trichomonas in Sept. .We didn't see each other in October because he had surgery, but again in November and I remember noticing the symptoms then, but never suspected an STD because for the 1 1/2 year that we dated both our annual STD tests came out normal. We broke up in November, He has reached out to me again, but I don't want to reengage a relationship with him if he slept with someone else. He says he only slept with me when we were together, but when we broke up he also said he can't believe how naive I am. My symptoms have already cleared up on this 3rd day, so my question is---Is it too late to be tested for trichomonas?
