Hello My Family Is Just Getting Over A Cold Given

Hello my family is just getting over a cold given by another family member. My 18 month old son has symptoms that my husband and older son and I don't have. He has dark almost tan snot and a fever on top of the coughing that we had. Is a fever and infection from the snot common with a cold?
