Hello. My Husband's Pointer Finger, On His Left Hand, Is

Hello. my husband's pointer finger, on his left hand, is swollen and very painful. He said he thought he had bruised a few days ago. He said he wasn't actually aware of how he hurt or bruised. He started to soak it yesterday to see if it would help. It looks like he might have a burst blood vessel. My husband thinks maybe he might have a pulled muscle. His finger is about twice the size. My husband took a needle and poked it to see if he could get anything to drain out.
