Hello, My Partner Takes Tramadol And Has Been For 5-6

Hello, my partner takes tramadol and has been for 5-6 years since he broke his back and had 4 operations on it, he takes a little more than prescribed to him which I know he is addicted but everytime I bring it up I get my head bitten off, I would like to have a baby in the very near future and I have my own issues (Lupus and fibromyalgia) and I was wondering if him taking this medication is going to effect conceiving and even cause problems to the baby?
