Hello, Saw An Ortho Doc Yesterday Because Of Issues With

Hello, saw an Ortho doc yesterday because of issues with my arm/shoulder. Pain, numbness, in shoulder and from shoulder to fingers. No injury to have caused this and the pain has been getting progressively worse since the end of November 2015. X-Rays were taken yesterday and doc said that there appeared to be some calcification and thought there is a tear in my rotator cuff. He did find a "spot" on my x-ray (looked like a thumbprint size spot just under the bone at the curvature from shoulder to arm. Doc had never seen this type of "spot" before. Waiting on approval from insurance for MRI. Question is could the spot be part of issue with Rot. Cuff Tear or some other issue?
