Hello Sir, I Am Wondering If It Is Appropriate To

Hello sir,
I am wondering if it is appropriate to take finasteride for enlarged prostate. I am 50. I had a PSA test about 6 months ago, and was in the acceptable range. However, I was on finasteride, and my PSA levels were probably altered. Also, I have had prostatitis for about 17 years. It is chronic, and flares-up and then subsides. I currently now have developed overactive bladder as well, and am wondering if it best for me to simply stop taking finasteride and then get another test for PSA in X amount of months? Perhaps 6 is enough? I'm thinking there may be a correlation between my overactive bladder and my prostatitis. I have seen some improvement with OAB by taking a pumpkin seed extract and soy germ supplement. I went to a urologist a few months ago, and all she did was a rectal exam, said I had an enlarged prostate, and put me on Flomax, which did nothing to improve my OAB symptoms, that I saw her for. Suggestions? Thank you. --Mark S.
