Hello Sir, Whenver I Have A Cold Or Cough After

Hello sir, whenver I have a cold or cough after that liquid discharges from my ear. I have been suffering from this problem for more 7-8 years.....last time when I went for check up doctor told me there is a small hone which need to be operated for permanent solution....My hearing test was normal.... is it possible to be completely cured without ear drum operation??
