Hi Doctor
I hope you are well. I had an ACL reconstruction about 9 months (going to 10) ago now. I was advised to do my rehab, which I did, and stay off sports for 6 months: I gave it 8!! After my 6 month review the doctor said it was doing well and he was happy. It has been doing well; apart from stiffness and pain in the morning till I exercise it, and a clicking sound which are both said to be normal. I have been back to sports (soccer) for about 2 months now. I wear a brace and it has generally performed well. This morning I felt an unusual amount of pain when I just woke up. As usual, I did my knee exercises and went for my usual Saturday game thinking it’s the usual pain that will go away after blood flow. It got worse during the match; I am now limping and it is just a fraction swollen, but really painful. I did not do anything to it during the match; just the usual running on it, but nothing that would tear or re-injure it. It is really painful at the moment. Any advice? Is this normal?

Thanks,
M
