I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant(first pregnancy). When I first consulted my gynecologist ( that was when I was 4 weeks pregnant), she prescribed duphaston 10mg daily once and also fertigyn hp 5000 iu injection weekly once. I have already taken 2 doses of the injection.
When I visited her last week, she has asked me to continue the injection for 8 weeks more. I have read that Fertigyn contains HCG which is usually given during infertility treatment. I would like to know if there are any side effects if this is taken during pregnancy. As I came across an article which said that fertigyn injections during pregnancy will result in extreme weight gain and also would harm the baby, I'm extremely worried. Please help.
PS : I was diagonized with PCOS in 2014 and was put on medication for around 2-3 months. It was another doc and she asked me to stop it after 3 months and come back if any issues occur after marriage. I got married in April 2015 and I have not used any contraception methods so far. I did a home pregnancy test on Oct 2015 which was positive. My current gynecologist is aware of all this.
