Hi Dr. My mom was admitted 10/13/16 with symptom's of coughing up pink foam looking stuff, shaking violently, running a fever out of nowhere then started coughing up dark red blood clots. She was fine one minute and then everything seemed to go haywire. Prior to this, 21/2 months ago she fell in the bathroom and suffered a proximal displaced humerus fracture but was diagnosed with a mild transverse fracture and was sent to rehab. After 8 days there I demanded a second opinion and an orthopedic Dr showed me the x-rays and said she should of had surgery to correct the fracture. What I need to know is if the problem she is having now could of been caused by a pulmonary embolism. What started as " pneumonia " in her right lower lung is now bilateral with her lungs almost filled and effusions. She has been on 18 different antibiotics and is slowing dying.
