Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am Donna age 67. Recently I noticed my arteries or veins above my right temple are swollen. Very tender to touch. Pain running down back side of ear and the back of head hurts. Went to emergency room. took blood, and vitals and had an MRI. Gave me prednisone. Followed up with my doctor and he referred me to main clinic to get an ultrasound. the tech did not find anything wrong. said my sed rate was normal. even did ultrasound on my left side and both are the same numbers. no elevation. Can prednisone give negative readings on the ultrasound? And what else could all these symptoms and the swelling be if not temporal arteritis?
