What Is The Most Effective Time Of Day To Take Spironolactone For Reducing Androgens In PCOS?
Hi, I am taking spironolactone to reduce the excess androgens and associated symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome. I have been told I can either take it day or night and I have tried both times which have been fine in terms of having minimal side effects. I was just wondering which time of day might be most effective for reducing androgens? I heard that androgens have a pattern of secretion that means they raise steadily over the night and peak between 7-10am. I also heard that spironolactone reaches peak absorption around 4 hours after oral administration. Would this mean that taking spironolactone at around 4am would be the best for reducing androgens? Or it is perhaps not that simple? I couldn t find any studies investigating this. Thank you. Kind regards
