Hi, I am under the care of a neurologist for cerviogenic or occipital headaches and a small chiari malformation. Currently I have a severe headache ,with tender spots points at the back, top of my head , behind my ears bilateraly and behind \ near one eye. I also have a different pain which is intermittent like a shot or a bee sting. These shooting pains r at the base of my skull and base of my neck . I also have thoracic ( between my shoulder blades ) dull pain and severe arm pain on the inside of my arm arm with numbness and tingling with my middle fingers. The severeity of tnbe headache and arm pain seem to corelate in severity. Dr says I also have reduced grip and arm strength. He recommends a nuero consult with new MRI findings: stable c\5-6 fusion , small residual herniation at c\4-5, c\2-3,c\-4 mild facet issues ,mild forminal narrowing and spurring at c\5-6, c\4-5. herniation increased in size since prev mri at c6-7 with extrusions( mild) at c\7-1,t\1-2, t\2-3 stable Lumbar fusions at l\ 3-4 and l\5s-1 with short pedicle syndrome congenital stenosis. Medications -zonogran, nadalol, norco, flexerill. I can't get in to see my neurosurgeon for 4 months. I know it's not an emergency . No cord compression currently. All of my past spine surgeries were on an emergency basis for cord compression ( all done within a week of MRI) . Just anxious about waiting the 4 months with the severe arm pain and daily severe headaches . I did have a recent occipital nerve bloc . In the past these were very helpful but this time the headache was back as soon as the anesthesia wore off. I did have great response for both the headache and arm pain with Prednisone. Thanks so much for your time.
