Hi! I Cut The Large Knuckle On My Finger Pretty

Hi! I cut the large knuckle on my finger pretty deep when our very sharp grater slipped about 2 1/2 months ago. It has totally healed. But the knuckle is reddish in color, still looks swollen and is very tender to bend it or touch it with pressure. I am wondering if it's just scar tissue like my mom thinks.
