Hi I Fractured My Fifth Metatarsal Bone About 7 Weeks

I fractured my fifth metatarsal bone about 7 weeks ago while in Europe , they put a splint cast on . After six weeks got my foot xrayed here in the US and found out fracture hasnt' healed so I got prescribed a boot cast ( one with the pump on it ) I have numbness and swelling when I remove cast to shower is this normal ? I've had boot cast on for 2 weeks tomorrow. Please advise.
