Hi, I Have A 2 Year Old That Was Recently

Hi, I have a 2 year old that was recently diagnosed with adenoid hypertrophy. A recent X-ray revealed that his adenoids are greater than 50% enlarged. He also just recovered from tonsillitis. I was advised today that he may need surgical intervention for both to be removed but I want this to be the last resort. He is currently on nasal spray and antihistamine for a month.
Any advise?
